Hokitika gorge

A Hokitika, capital of jade, found mostly in green stone jewelry shops.
But there is also a beach, famous for its sunsets and breathtaking cliff with fireflies. The city also hosts several recognized festivals like the Wild Food Festival which took place in March after our passage, and Driftwood Beach and Sand Sculpture Festival, which takes place in late January it ... Bad luck!

The driver who had shipped us to Arthur's Pass had informed us of the existence of a cliff with glow worms (fireflies).
The information did not fall in deaf ears! We wanted to see for a while, but we must often pay a large sum of money to see. Here in Hokitika, it's free! We therefore take our chance and we agree to meet Jules and Charlene at dusk to venture into the woods and try to find our little fluorescent friends! En route, the sky ignites and becomes covered with an orange-red color worthy of the most beautiful sunsets. Unfortunately for us, we are walking along the main road back from the beach and we do not think have time to reach the sea to capture this incredible moment. Too bad ... We will try our luck tomorrow night! For tonight, the show will consist of countless small bright dots clinging to a cliff.
