racquetball for beginners

Racquetball was created in the US in 1949 by tennis and squash player named Joe Sobek. He adapted the rules of squash at a Gaelic handball court with a tennis racket handle the shortcut and a bigger ball than the squash and swifter than that of tennis.

But practiced on a large closed ground (12.20 m deep, 6.10 m wide and 6.10 m under ceiling), you can use any surface to bounce the ball to the front wall.

The official ball is 5.71 cm in diameter and weighs approximately 39.7 g1

Unlike squash, there is not imaginary thread on the front wall. The ball may hit it as low as you like, provided of course not hitting the ground after the rebound on the wall, and not before. In return, compared squash, the ball bounces much.

racquetball  history

Racquetball grew tremendously in the 1980s in the US, then spread across North America, and South America as well as Japan and Korea.
Today, although still confidential in France and being expanded in Europe, racquetball has more than 10 million practitioners worldwide, a significant part is composed of women.

In the US, it is practiced in numerous competitions, including one reserved for over 75 years competitors. This demonstrates its great accessibility, as well as from the age of 3 years a child can begin to express it.

racquetball  Rules

The objective of racquetball is to win points by preventing his opponent from passing the buck on the main wall before his second bounce or when prevention is pronounced. However the players will earn points only when they hold the service. Thus a player who wins an exchange without having served this exchange will not win points but have the right to service the following exchange. In singles, a lost call service is an "out."

The ball must imperatively be returned to the front wall without first touching the ground. The ball can be returned across the main wall, there is no imaginary net as squash.

To win the game you must total two winning sets. The first two sets are played to 15 points. If each player has won one, the last set will be a "tie break" in 11 points.

The service should start in the area closest to the wall called "service area". The reception should be within the area bounded farthest wall called the "reception area" If the ball bounces in the intermediate zone (safety zone), the service sucks.
